Botanical Safety Consortium Publications

Botanical dietary supplement use is widespread and growing, therefore, ensuring the safety of botanical products is a public health priority. The Botanical Safety Consortium (BSC) is a public-private partnership aimed at enhancing the toolkit for conducting the safety evaluation of botanicals. This partnership is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding between the US FDA, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and the Health and Environmental Sciences Institute. The BSC serves as a global forum for scientists from government, academia, consumer health groups, industry, and non-profit organizations to work collaboratively on adapting and integrating new approach methodologies (NAMs) into routine botanical safety assessments.

DTT Data Dictionary 2022-Present

DTT supports FAIR data principles https://www.go-fair.org/fair-principles/. One component of FAIR is to ensure that data are interoperable with applications and workflows, and in particular, that “(Meta)data use vocabularies that follow FAIR principles”.

In support of this aim, DTT is developing the DTT Data Dictionary (DDD), a list of terms, metadata and endpoints used in DTT studies. The DDD is growing as data are consolidated and will be updated or extended approximately monthly. Older versions and change logs will be available. The DDD contains links to external ontologies or other external IDs where available.

We welcome your comments and suggestions. Please contact dttresearchdatacoordinator@mail.nih.gov

NTP/DTT Data Collections 2024-Present

DTT supports FAIR data principles . Two components of FAIR are Findability and Accessibility of curated data sets. Findability refers to the ability of users to locate and clearly identify compilations of data. Accessibility refers to the ability of users to access and integrate requested data easily and efficiently into workflows or processes.

In support of this aim, DTT is developing the NTP/DTT Data Collections, a selection of curated data sets that are available via a searchable User Interface (DTT Data Collections Guided Search) as well as via complete downloadable spreadsheets. These curated data sets are aligned with standard terminology from the DTT Data Dictionary while also maintaining pertinent legacy terms and will be updated approximately every month. Updates will include 1) the addition of new data to existing Data Collections, 2) modifications of existing Data Collections, 3) and addition of new Data Collections. Previous versions of each featured Data Collection on this page will be available for download by the user.

We welcome your comments on these Data Collections, as well as suggestions of topics for future Data Collections. Please contact dttresearchdatacoordinator@mail.nih.gov
